Welcome to the SAP Project System Blog

by alex on April 1, 2007

The mission of this site is to share knowledge and information about SAP’s Project System module.

This complex system is a powerful tool for managing projects, but is not widely understood by many SAP professionals.  We hope to change that.

Hi friends,

I am a certified consultant in SAP SD and well aware about the functionalities of different modules like MM, PP, FI and CO.
Currently I am also studying PS to understand what functionalites can be offered to the clients.

i suggest we upload the documents related to study at sharing site like esnips so that it would be available to all.

Our company has recently became a large supplier to the DOD. With the CAS requirements and cost accumulation requiremnents we need to improve from being a commercial based company to a project based system. We have SAP and use PS on a small scale. Would anyone be able to recommend a consulting firm which could review our current confirguration and recommend what we need to do to improve?

I would like to move into ERP delivery. Is it a good option to learn SAP PS now, if yes what is the best way to learn?(given the time constraints, is it okay to learn from MMC ). is it mandatory to get trained in siemens/genovate to do the certification. Pls. respond

I have a request to the PS gurus, my client would like to see the advantages of using the PS scheduling tool in stead of MS projects. Does any you have some tips or sites even perhaps have a whitepaper on this. It will really be appreciated. David

Judy Bhalla October 14, 2008 at 11:12 am

Hello Everyone,
My name is Judy Bhalla and I’ve been working with SAP for about 10 years now, my organization recently implemented SAP/PS and I’ve now become the power user, worked with the implementatin team and would like to gain more experience and learn how PS/MM interfaces as well as completing PS certification by the end of the year. I’ve completed SAP training in all the PLM courses. So any assistance as to where to begin would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
Judy

Antony Jones October 20, 2008 at 11:25 pm

I’m pretty experienced at using SAP PM module,PS module incorporates more modules, but the simplist parts of planning seem to be very difficult to complete eg. the planning and tracking of different stages of a project. Can you shed any light on how we could track progress on hours spent comapared to hours planned?

best regards,
Tony

New book out on PS at Amazon. A free companion web-site is planned for 2009, detailing specific solutions to common problems. I think this site would benefit from that.

Hi,
Which Software company has recently implemented SAP PS? How successful they are? Any idea?

pemma December 27, 2008 at 10:07 pm

Good question Kumar.. May be, by sharing knowledge with others, most of us do not want to dilute our competetive advantage in the (PS consulting) market place ? May be we all are waiting for some philantrophist to post answers to all our questions ?

Susanta Kumar Senapati January 21, 2009 at 12:39 am

Dear Friends,
It is nice to see that PS Blog has been formed. I feel it is really a great initiative to have a separate forum for PS. I am a PS consultant and working in MNC but I am not a certified consultant.

I would like to share some of my experience which I have earned from my just completed project. We are implementing the Integration of SAP PS & CRM module in one of the biggest Telecom Company in world that “TELKOM Indonesia”. In this project all the products are configurable products. And this the first time in world in any telecom company a SAP PS & CRM integration project is implemented.

I really struggled a lot during my project for configuring all the configurable products & preparing WBS BOM for configurable products. I was facing lot of difficulties during BOM exploding because of configurable products. Finally I did it & we have successfully implemented the project.

So what I wanted to say is, any body is in this kind of project & you are facing any kind of problem, please share with me. I will give my best to help you out as I know how difficult it is. But before that my sincere suggestion is, for this kind of project you must have basic knowledge of CRM, MM, SD, PP, FI, CO, PM & their Integration. Otherwise life would very top during project.

All PLM consultants are requested to share their Gtalk ID among each other so that in difficult time we can help each other.

You all can reach me anytime-

Email Id: senapati.sk@gmail.com
Mobile: +6281931238426

You all are most welcome & wish u all the best.

Thank you,

Regards

Susanta Ku Senapati,
SAP PS Consultant.

SAP PS Experts,

I am getting error CN245 – The organizational units do not match in network and standard network. This is a valid system response. However, I would like to use one network material mapped to one standard network, which need to allow creation of operative network for different sales orgs/plants.

Is there an OSS note or some other solution that will allow this scenario? Otherwise, I have to create a network material and standard network for every sales org/plant for about 7 different order types, which is a lot.
