Welcome to the SAP Project System Blog

by alex on April 1, 2007

The mission of this site is to share knowledge and information about SAP’s Project System module.

This complex system is a powerful tool for managing projects, but is not widely understood by many SAP professionals.  We hope to change that.

Hello,

This is very true. I recently got certified as a SAP-PS consultant. The SAP PS module is indeed a very powerful tool for managing projects, but very few are aware about its potential. Starting a blog dedicated especially to SAP PS is a very good initiative & I really appreciate that.

Hope I will be able add my two cents to this blog in due course of time to make it more interesting & meaningful.

Thanks & Regards
Deepak Umrankar

Can anyone tell me about the SAP PS configuration guide Source. I am looking for some study material.

Krishna May 23, 2007 at 9:59 pm

This is the first time I have seen a site exclusive to PS its a good move-
Those who are intrested in PS welcome
I am expereienced in PS,
Before one enters to this Module keep one point in mind-
you should be thorough in the following modules to get in to this:
CO
SD
MM
PP
PM
External Services
Customer service
without knowing the above modules it is very difficult to work in this area – I am not discouraging any one but it is a fact.
Suddenly you will find your self dealing with some other module while working in PS

project management is the key focuss now adyas in any buisiness so keep informaed

Hi all,
I have got Certified in SAP Project Systems module very recently. I feel it is really a great initiative to have a separate forum for PS.

As rightly said PS is the heart and it interacts with all other SAP modules like SD,PP,MM,FI,CO.

For Certification, Genovate or Siemens are Authorized Training Partners for SAP in India.
Regarding course there are totally 7 books which you have to study.Course is for 25 days and after which you have to appear for examination.

Thanks
Tushar

Hi Satish Kumar,

As you may be aware that SAP PS more complex and one of the toughest module which frequently interacts with costs, budgets, revenues, work centers, capacities and resouces. Besides that, a PS consultatnt should be in a position to understand user’s business processes to enable to define project structure. A well defined and un-ambiguous structures will address entire life cycle of project without much problem. The life cycle of project it undergoes various phases some them overlap to an extent till completion of project. during this phase it will interacts with other cross funtional modules due to its integration for deliverables.

Unless u have prior experience in the fileds of project management, costing and controlling and materials management etc.

I suggest if u don not possess, pl do not venture into PS rather complicating urself.

Regards

Sudhakar

Great site. been working on SAP PS Module for 5 years. About to do a large scale implementation. Go Live at the end of Sept – woo hoo! Would love to hear from other PS’ers. More so “Super Users” end users rather than ABAPers or developers that you tend to get on other sites.

Hoping to share some knowledge.

Can someone assist me in the use of BAPI_NETWORK_MAINTAIN. I am trying to enhance an existing program that uses BDC/CALL Transaction to add Networks and Activities existing Project Definitions and WBS (which are both created using BAPI_PROJECT_MAINTAIN). I am trying to replace this functionality by using the BAPI_NETWORK_MAINTAIN; however, I dont understand what BAPI Structure is used to carry the Component.

Any help will do.
Thanks

MNS February 4, 2008 at 2:25 am

As everyone said, its good to have a forum on SAP PS and i wish good to everyone.
I am responsible for reporting and controlling activities. Though i have expertise in that but still feel urge to have solid base knowledge of what i learnt through myself and through my colleagues.
As requested by most of my friends, can i also have materials and other stuff to excel in PS.
Lastly is there any medium through which we can share/discuss issues in real time like we chat and discuss things on messenger.
Required materials and replies are much awaited
